An Aptitude Test is a standardised assessment designed to measure an individual's ability to perform specific tasks or respond to particular situations. It is popularly used in academic settings and as a pre-employment assessment tool to evaluate a person's inherent skills, strengths, and potential for success in various domains such as cognitive abilities, problem-solving, critical thinking, numerical reasoning, verbal comprehension and spatial awareness.
Alison’s Aptitude Test consists of three components: a Verbal, Numeric, and Abstract Test.
Verbal Reasoning Tests assess your critical thinking abilities, comprehension, and attention to detail. In these tests, candidates are required to read passages of text and answer questions based on the information provided. Questions may involve identifying main ideas, drawing inferences, determining the author's purpose or tone, making logical deductions, and evaluating arguments.
Verbal reasoning tests are commonly used by employers during the hiring process to assess candidates' communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and their capacity to work with written information effectively. They are also used in academic settings to assess students' reading comprehension skills and analytical thinking abilities.
Numerical Reasoning Tests assess your ability to analyse and draw logical conclusions from numerical data. In numerical reasoning tests, candidates are typically presented with sets of data in the form of tables, graphs, or charts, and are asked to answer questions based on the information provided. Questions may involve arithmetic operations, percentage calculations, ratio and proportion problems, interpreting trends in data, and drawing conclusions from numerical information.
Numerical reasoning tests are frequently used by employers during the recruitment process to assess candidates' quantitative reasoning abilities, problem-solving skills, and their capacity to work with numerical information effectively. They are also used in academic settings to assess students' mathematical proficiency and analytical thinking abilities.
Abstract Reasoning Tests assess your ability to think outside the box and examine logical problems. In abstract reasoning tests, candidates are typically presented with sequences of shapes, symbols, or patterns and are asked to identify the underlying rules or principles governing the sequence. They are then required to choose the correct shape or symbol that completes the sequence or follows the established pattern.
Employers may use abstract reasoning tests during the recruitment process to assess candidates' cognitive abilities, creativity, and their capacity to think critically and solve complex problems. These tests are also commonly used in educational settings to evaluate students' reasoning skills and cognitive aptitude.
